CU Wizards "Fun With Molecules" Starts 2000-2001 Season Sept. 30

Chemistry and biochemistry Professor David Nesbitt will kick off the 2000-2001 University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ CU Wizards season with plenty of booms and fizzles as he presents "Fun with Molecules," Saturday, Sept. 30, at 9:30 a.m. in the Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry Building, room 140. Professor NesbittÂ’s show will shed light on the wonders of chemical reactions with several experiments, like turning a pickle into a light bulb and generating light without heat – just like fireflies.

Â鶹ӰԺ Couple Donates Funds To Shakespeare Festival At CU-Â鶹ӰԺ

With a gift of appreciated stock, Ruth and Ken Wright of Â鶹ӰԺ have endowed a directorship with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ. The fund will perpetually generate support to attract distinguished directors who will bring their artistic talents to Â鶹ӰԺ each summer.

CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Study Abroad Fair To Be On Tuesday, Sept. 26

The University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ will hold its annual Study Abroad Peer Advising Fair Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Students will be able to gather general information about CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's 140 study abroad programs including program costs, scholarship opportunities and financial aid. Students also can explore new program options in Cuba, the Southern Cone (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay), Fiji, London, Berlin, Norway, Russia, Jordan and Turkey.

Final Harvest To Complete A Successful Gardening Season

Area middle-school students get a lesson on harvesting WHO: CU-Â鶹ӰԺ’s Office of Community Relations and Â鶹ӰԺ Community Food Share garden staff along with 11- to 14 year-old students from Sojourner School will be on hand to harvest and winterize the campus's four gardens. Berkeley Honors CU's Jacques Pankove As One Of Four Technology Leaders

Minor Explosion Causes Temporary Evacuation Of CU Space Research Facility

A minor explosion at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ’s Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy Research Lab about 11:40 a.m. today caused the temporary evacuation of the building. There were no injuries and only minor damage to the structure was reported. The approximately 15 students, faculty and researchers inside the building at the time were immediately evacuated. There was no smoke or fire in the lab, which is located in the CU Research Park at 38th Street and Colorado Avenue.

A campus health and wellness fair for University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ students, faculty, staff and community members will be held in the Glenn Miller Ballroom of the University Memorial Center on Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Among the programs and services to be featured will be blood pressure screenings, nutritional counseling, chair massage, chiropractic, smoking cessation, herbal medicine, women's health information, a signup for Sept. 20 cholesterol screenings and a raffle for prizes.

Urban/Rural Divorce Trial To Be Played Out In Telluride

The University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ’s Center for the American West will host a mock divorce trial between the urban and rural West on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in Telluride. The program will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the San Miguel County Courthouse. The event is free and open to the public.

Memorial Set Sept. 18 For CU Student Killed In June Plane Crash In Alaska

A memorial service for Adam Kolff, of Seattle, the University of Colorado student killed June 19th in a plane crash in Alaska, will be held Sept. 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Old Main Chapel on the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ campus. Kolff, 27, graduated in the spring with a masterÂ’s degree in geography. His focus was on mining and protected areas in Peru. He had presented a paper on the results of his research during the American Association of Geographers annual meeting held last March in Pittsburgh.
