Board of Regents hears preliminary enrollment numbers, discusses the cost and value of research

The CU Board of Regents Thursday received an update on projected enrollment growth on all four campuses from Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Todd Saliman. Among other items, the board also approved a name change for the BA degree in the Department of Women and Gender Studies and the splitting of the MS in Applied Mathematics into a professional and traditional degree.

CU seeks city support on development of new hotel-conference center in heart of Â鶹ӰԺ

The city manager and staff will ask the Â鶹ӰԺ City Council next week to consider a collaborative plan with the university to develop a new hotel and conference center in the heart of the city. The center will have the potential to help revitalize The Hill commercial district and create a modern gathering place for academics, researchers and the community.

Be Â鶹ӰԺ Anywhere merges with the Graduate School

BBA has been responsible for developing and promoting new professional master’s degrees at CU Â鶹ӰԺ for both on-campus and distance students. These services will now be expanded to all graduate education. With this move, the Graduate School will also be responsible for developing CU Â鶹ӰԺ’s Massive Open Online Courses, known as MOOCs.

Bobby Braun

Braun named new dean of engineering and applied science

Provost Moore today announced Bobby Braun as the new dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science. Braun, who helped lead the team that put the first rover on Mars, is a professor of space technology at Georgia Tech. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and formerly worked at NASA Langley Research Center for 16 years. He'll arrive on campus to join the faculty in October 2016. His role as dean will begin in January 2017.

Â鶹ӰԺ Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Terri Fiez, has announced that Patricia Rankin will step down as Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Research to return to the faculty on Aug. 15, 2016. As Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, Rankin was a key contributor to many of the transformations that have occurred in the Â鶹ӰԺ campus’s research support operations.
