Francis Beckwith will serve as the Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy for the 2016-17 academic year. He is the fourth person to hold the position. Beckwith earned a PhD in philosophy from Fordham University and a master of juridical studies from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. Beckwith, professor of philosophy and church-state studies at Baylor University in Texas, will succeed Brian Domitrovic, whose appointment ends this academic year.

Mark Meaney has been elected chair of the new North America chapter of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education intiative. The organization works to inspire and champion responsible business management education, research and leadership globally.

The spring semester brings a new late-night study location in the C4C Dining Center, as well as free tutoring for students in the resident halls and Bear Creek Apartments.

Looking for leadership skills? Apply for CU GOLD’s Core Leadership Program (CLP). CU GOLD is a student-led group on campus that provides an opportunity for CU-Â鶹ӰԺ students to foster personal development in leadership skills. CLP consists of a leadership retreat Feb. 6-7, weekly seminars devoted to various leadership topics, and a community service project.

On Dec. 19, 2015, the Â鶹ӰԺ honored candidates for 1,736 degrees, including 1,280 bachelor’s degrees, 280 master’s degrees, 8 law degrees and 168 doctoral degrees. CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Professor and 2015 Hazel Barnes Award recipient Fred Anderson gave the commencement address. See photos and more from this special occasion.

The Â鶹ӰԺ will hold its final winter commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Coors Events Center as the campus moves toward a single spring ceremony honoring all graduates.
