Bergeron succeeds Robert Boswell, who announced his retirement earlier in the fall after more than a decade of service as vice chancellor for diversity, equity and community engagement and 35 years as a CU 麻豆影院 faculty member in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB).

鈥淒yonne鈥檚 experience as CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 assistant vice chancellor for inclusion and student achievement and two decades-plus working in campus culture change, academic affairs, student affairs, leadership development and DEI education and training make her a natural choice for leading the Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement.

鈥淚 have every confidence that she will keep ODECE on its effective trajectory as a vital resource for the campus community,鈥 Moore said.

Moore said that in her new role as acting vice provost and associate vice chancellor, Bergeron will report to him and will 鈥渃ontinue ODECE鈥檚 important role in supporting diversity, equity and community engagement within CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 academic mission and with ODECE鈥檚 stakeholders, and will act as a key partner with Senior Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Sonia DeLuca Fern谩ndez and other leaders across campus.鈥

Bergeron said she was 鈥渉onored by the appointment and looking forward to building on ODECE鈥檚 and Bob Boswell鈥檚 accomplishments.鈥

鈥淚 look forward to working with our campus community on its continued efforts to make excellence inclusive,鈥 Bergeron said. 鈥淏y cultivating equity-minded practitioners and scholars, providing space for courageous conversations, supporting those who have been historically excluded from higher education and creating high-impact programs, scholarships and partnerships, we are building a culture of care and belonging with meaningful engagement among students, staff and faculty at CU 麻豆影院,鈥 Bergeron said.

Bergeron brings more than two decades of experience and strong capability in academic affairs, student affairs and diversity, equity and inclusion. As CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 assistant vice chancellor for inclusion and student achievement in ODECE, she provided leadership and oversight for the Center for Inclusion and Social Change; created and headed the efforts of the staff and faculty DEI Inclusive Culture Team; and helped advance a range of campuswide matters relating to policies, initiatives and strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Before that, Bergeron served as an assistant vice chancellor for student affairs, overseeing budget and management oversight for eight CU 麻豆影院 departments that included the Dean of Students (interim dean of students), University of Colorado Student Government (CUSG), the Women鈥檚 Resource Center, the Gender & Sexuality Center, Cultural Unity & Engagement Center, the Volunteer Resource Center, Veteran Services and Career Services.

Before coming to CU 麻豆影院, Bergeron served in several leadership roles at Florida Gulf Coast University, the University of South Florida, the University of Georgia and Louisiana State University.

She holds a doctorate in education in leadership development with an emphasis in college leadership from the University of South Florida, a master鈥檚 of education in college student affairs (also from the University of South Florida) and a bachelor of arts in speech communication from Louisiana State University.
