The campus community is invited to take part in four open forums with the finalists for the dean of the College of Engineering & Applied Science position on Oct. 20, Oct. 26, Oct. 27, and Nov. 4.

Laura Schaefer, chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Burton J. and Ann McMurtry Chaired Professor at Rice University, will lead an open town hall with the community from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Alyssa Panitch, Edward Teller Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Davis, where she is also executive associate dean and the associate dean for academic personnel and planning, will lead an open town hall with the community from 3 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26.

Samuel Mukasa, senior executive for global STEM initiatives at the听University of Minnesota Twin Cities, will lead an open town hall with the community from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Karen Thole, department head of mechanical engineering and distinguished professor at The Pennsylvania State University, will lead an open town hall with the community from 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

All community town halls will be conducted virtually via Zoom, and registration is required. The four finalists will also each meet in sessions with College of Engineering & Applied Science undergraduate and graduate students; faculty; staff; advancement personnel; assistant and associate deans; department chairs; program directors; the provost; the interim dean; and the search committee.

Following each campus town hall, members of the community will have the opportunity to submit formal input for each candidate via a web survey that registrants will receive via email.

Moore welcomes additional feedback on the finalists at vcaa@colorado.edu from Thursday, Nov. 5, through Tuesday, Nov. 10. Moore will review all feedback and is expected to invite the top candidates for additional interviews with campus leadership. His goal is to name a new dean by the end of the fall semester.

The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College of Engineering & Applied Science and a member of the provost鈥檚 leadership team, providing leadership, vision and management for the college. The post also collaborates with faculty, staff and campus leadership to advance CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 goals and mission.
