Campus leadership announced Thursday that the moratorium on in-person, on-campus events has been extended indefinitely as campus continues to prepare for the fall semester.听
The moratorium, in place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, had most recently been extended through Aug. 16.
Limited activities related to move-in week and Fall Welcome are still being held and are adhering to safety protocols approved by campus leadership.听
鈥淓xtending the moratorium gives us time to bring students back to campus and ensure a successful resumption of in-person classes before we introduce the added layer of on-campus events,鈥 said Dan Jones, associate vice chancellor for integrity, safety and compliance. 鈥淲e will continue to monitor campus and community metrics related to COVID-19 to determine whether and when to lift the events moratorium. The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and local community will remain the top factor in these decisions, and we will keep the campus updated as these decisions are made.鈥澨
The campus SAFE Committee and other event scheduling authorities have been collaborating in recent weeks on new procedures that will support campus guidelines for in-person, on-campus events once the moratorium is lifted.
