A spate of innovative research over the past 10 years has discovered much that is new and illuminating about Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, the 11th century Puebloan regional center. Lekson will review recent research at Chaco听and the new directions it suggests for ancient history.
Most of Lekson's fieldwork as an archaeologist has been in the Mogollon and Anasazi (Ancestral Pueblo) regions, but he has dabbled in Hohokam, Casas Grandes, Jornada听and Rio Grande areas. His principal interests are human geography, built environments and government, with current research projects focused on migrations and household archaeology.
As curator of anthropology at the CU Museum of Natural History, Lekson has a special interest听in museums and archaeology鈥檚 role in American and global intellectual life.
