Join Out in STEM @ CU 麻豆影院 (oSTEM @ CU 麻豆影院), a campus group promoting LGBTQIA inclusion and community in STEM, for their spring 2018 symposium, Queer in STEM: Celebrating Diversity in Gender Experience and Expression听on Friday, April 13.

The听goal of the event is to celebrate gender diversity in STEM by creating a dialogue between queer groups, women in science groups, other advocacy groups听and allies. All genders, sexualities and allies are welcome to attend; there will be games, advocacy training, research presentations听and Q&A with queer, trans听and allied academics.
At the workshops, learn fun skills such as making modular origami sculptures and building screaming rocks with micro-controllers. Listen in on STEM research presentations, which include 鈥淔rontiers in Quantum Information and Computing,鈥 鈥淛ourney to the Red Planet,鈥 鈥淒o Habitable Planets Require Magnetic Fields,鈥 as well as more topics to be announced.听Learn essential advocacy skills in a joint presentation from the Office of Victim Assistance and the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance, as well as allyship presentations from the Gender and Sexuality Center.听
There will be free appetizers and Indian Cuisine for dinner. Attendance for the full duration of the event is not required for participation. , but it also will be possible to register at the time of the event.听
