Pop-up donation drive

The CU Athletics Department needs yourÌýdonations to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. CU Athletics will be collecting donations from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.ÌýWednesday at the corner of Discovery Drive and Innovation Drive (just south of Potts Field on East Campus). CU Athletics will give two tickets to Saturday's football game against Texas State to each person who donates items (while supplies last). Items requested for donation include: Bottled water,Ìýnon-perishable food items,Ìýhygiene products, cleaning supplies and gently used clothing.

One of the many reasons we love The Herd is, each month, they provide all CU Â鶹ӰԺ students with free lunch from one of Â鶹ӰԺ’s awesome restaurants. For the first Welcome Wednesday of the year, getÌýlunch provided by Modern Market between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.Ìýat the Koenig Alumni Center.

From Jeff Orlowski, the director of the popular and influential documentary Chasing Ice, comes a new masterpiece about the progressing disappearance of coral reefs all over the world. Come see it for free and learn about this global problemÌýat 7:30 p.m. in Muenzinger Auditorium.

Come and hear Mozart’s Piano Concertos Nos. 14 and 15 (which never go out of style) with pianist David Korevaar and the College of Music Faculty Orchestra. They perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Â鶹ӰԺ Dairy Arts Center—an excellent place to hear a concert. Tickets start at $10.

Stop by the University Memorial Center (UMC) fountain area from 10:30 a.m. toÌý2 p.m. to learn about your chance to study, intern and participate in research and service-learning opportunities abroad during Education Abroad's Fall Fair.ÌýRecently returned Education Abroad alumni and staff will be on hand to share what it’s like to live and learn abroad, find affordable programs and build your résumé with an international experience.Ìý

Drop in and see CU Â鶹ӰԺ's very own Left Right Tim, a studentÌýimprov comedy group that performs on a weekly basis atÌýHale Science, room 270. Tickets are $3 at the door for this hilarious comedy show, and everyone is welcome.

Kick off the weekend with fellow Buffs and show your CU pride from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Connection. Previously known asÌýFirst Friday Buff Club, the seriesÌýwill return this semester as CU on Friday. Students, faculty and staff are invited to join. The September event is sponsored by CU Student Government.

Head over to Daune Field forÌýthe free tailgateÌýheld before all CU football games at Folsom Field. This week's kickoff is at noon, and the corral opens at 9 a.m. Don't miss your chance at a photo opÌýwith Ralphie—the best mascot in college football!ÌýThere also will be performances by the CU Marching Band and Spirit Squad, premium giveaways including CU Nike gear and pictures withÌýChip. No registration is needed.Ìý

Swing by the Â鶹ӰԺ Country Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Rd., between 7:30 p.m. and midnight for a multicultural festival and celebration featuring food, art, dance and live music from all over the world. Tickets are $25 and will benefit Intercambio, an English education and cultural unity program.

Come and celebrate Â鶹ӰԺ pride and the LGBTQ community at this fun annual festival at Central Park, located at 13th and Canyon. From 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., there will be local vendors, live music, tons of good food, and health and wellness information for everyone. Bring your friends, bring your pride and come enjoy this free event!
