The end of the spring semester brings with it a slate of construction activities that will include multiple sidewalk and lane closures on the CU 麻豆影院 campus starting next week.
On Monday, May 15, crews will begin work on the south side of the Ketchum Arts and Sciences building, constructing a tunnel stabilization and installing porous pavers in place of the current sidewalk that runs along the entire length of the building. That sidewalk will be closed until Aug. 20, reopening in time for the fall semester.
Monday also marks the start of a set of phased closures on different portions of the sidewalk that runs along the north side of the Center for Academic Success and Engagement (CASE) construction site.
Those closures will be staggered through mid-October but are timed so that an east-west route will be maintained along the north side of CASE the entire time the Ketchum sidewalk is closed. Reopening of the Ketchum sidewalk will then pave the way for completion of the work along the north side of CASE, such that the two major east-west pedestrian thoroughfares will not be closed at the same time.
Other construction impacts beginning Monday include:
18th Street along the east side of the CASE site will be reduced to one lane of traffic during working hours from May 15 to May 20. Flaggers will be present to direct RTD buses through the area. As a reminder, the 18th Street-Colorado Avenue corridor from Euclid Avenue to Folsom Field is closed to all through traffic except buses between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Colorado Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic on May 15 and May 16, as concrete work is done at the crosswalk on the south side of Folsom Field. Flaggers will likewise be present to direct buses through the area.
That work will be followed June 12 and 13 by mill and overlay of new asphalt along Colorado from the Benson Earth Sciences building all the way west to 18th Street. One lane of traffic will remain open during the mill and overlay portion of the project as well.
