The group is proud to announce the second-annual Science Communication (SciComm) Symposium, taking place Friday, April 21, at the Sustainability, Energy and Environment Complex (SEEC) on CU Â鶹ӰԺ's East Campus.

This year, SciComm is expanding to a full-day event to include a morning workshop session on science communication followed by an afternoon symposium of engaging research talks, interactive activitiesÌý²¹²Ô»å speakers who will give first-hand accounts of how science communication plays an essential role in their career.

Morning session

for the morning workshop session, as space is limited to 40 participants.Ìý

9 a.m. to noon
Attendees will participate in the workshopÌý"Messages with Impact:ÌýCreating a Compelling Story" led by professional facilitator Steve Zeisler. The workshop will provide tools to:

• Identify and engage different audiences through storytelling.
• Understand the elements of and effective techniques for telling impactful stories.
• Practice creating compelling stories that convey the importance and value of one's work.

12 to 1 p.m.
A taco bar lunch will be provided to workshop participants in SEEC S228. And from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., there will be a screening of Jane Zelikova's .

Afternoon symposium

but not required for the afternoon SciComm Symposium sessions.Ìý

1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The afternoon symposium at SEEC Auditorium will includeÌýtalks from Aisha Morris and Madeline Sofia, six TED-style presentations from fellow CU Â鶹ӰԺ gradÌýstudents and postdocs, and fun SciComm activities to get attendeesÌýon their feet and thinking outside of the box!

5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Close out the day with aÌýsocial hour and networking session at the Bartlett Center for Science Communication (SEEC C215), where participants will have opportunity to connect with WiSE members and SciComm speakers.
