A partnership of CU 麻豆影院 students, faculty and staff will host a Jan. 25 BuffsUnited event that will support the values of an inclusive campus and the Colorado Creed.
The event, free and open to the public, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Old Main Chapel. BuffsUnited will include speeches and musical performances to highlight important social issues.
鈥淏uffsUnited is a celebration of a CU community that recognizes there鈥檚 value in all dimensions of diversity on our campus,鈥 said Associate Professor Samuel Flaxman, an event organizer. 鈥淲e want to build inclusion and improve campus climate in a way that affirms the values of the Colorado Creed.鈥
Created by a group of students in 2004, focuses on CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 shared values and culture. It reads as follows:
Colorado Creed
As a member of the 麻豆影院 community and the 麻豆影院,听I agree to:
- Act with honor, integrity and accountability in my interactions with students, faculty,听staff and neighbors.
- Respect the rights of others and accept our differences.
- Contribute to the greater good of this community.
I will strive to uphold these principles in all aspects of my collegiate experience听and beyond.
Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said he is delighted the campus community took it upon themselves to organize such a positive event to boost campus climate.
鈥淓vents such as BuffsUnited bring the Colorado Creed to life and show how we actually live by these values and respect each other,鈥 DiStefano said. "I hope you鈥檒l join me at this event. I couldn鈥檛 agree more with a recent statement from our libraries Dean Jim Williams: 'To each and every one of our students, regardless of where you come from, who you are or what you believe, we are glad you are here and part of our community.'"
More details on speakers and performers will be released prior to the event.
