麻豆影院 Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer Kelly Fox has named David Kang as vice chancellor for infrastructure and safety, effective May 16.
Kang replaces Larry Levine, who filled the position on an interim basis after Steve Thweatt retired in mid-October.
Kang presently serves as the director of Project Management in The White House Military Office, where he leads 50 military, civilian and contractor personnel in the management and oversight of a classified presidential facilities and construction program, as well as oversees general architect and engineering services.

The vice chancellor for infrastructure and safety, formerly known as vice chancellor for administration, oversees an annual operating budget of $112 million. Areas of responsibility include the physical and public safety of the campus, long-range capital planning, real estate development, architecture, design and construction, the operation and maintenance of all campus facilities, emergency management, workplace accident prevention and the creation of a safe working environment for campus employees, environmental health and safety, environmental sustainability and campus logistics.听

Beyond creating a safe and secure environment at CU-麻豆影院, Kang also will take on several projects that are key to the strategic vision of the campus including: creating a clear and comprehensive framework and methodology for capital project planning within the Campus Physical Master Plan and capital development plans; developing strategies and tactics to improve campus sustainability; and progressively managing the use of renewable and non-renewable resources.听
In his current position at the White House, Kang created a new public works and facilities management organization while simultaneously leading the planning, design, acquisition and construction of several multi-million dollar classified facility programs and projects. He is credited with developing a strategic and sustainable facilities vision while streamlining project execution timelines, developing innovative solutions to complex facilities issues and enhancing customer service. Kang also spearheaded a collaborative, inter-agency effort to enhance energy resiliency for the White House.
Prior to his current position, Kang was the director of Shore Energy for the Department of the Navy where he championed a culture of sustainability and led department-wide efforts to increase energy efficiency, increase use of renewable energy and integrate smart energy technologies on Naval installations throughout the world. Additionally, he has held a wide range of high-level positions within the Navy including several positions leading various public works and facilities organizations around the world.
He earned a master鈥檚 degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor鈥檚 in structural engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
