Veterans Day ceremony.听With more than 400 combat flight hours, 141 combat sorties and nine medals and decorations of honor for his service, this year鈥檚 Veterans Day ceremony keynote speaker and CU 麻豆影院 alumnus retired Maj. George 鈥淐hip鈥 Jones听Jr. spent more than 23 years in the Marine Corps. The ceremony, sponsored by the Office of Veteran Services, University Memorial Center, Student Veterans Association and UMC Board, begins at 11 a.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom.听.
NAMI: In your own voice speaker.听Join CU鈥檚 National Alliance on Mental Health chapter in welcoming a speaker living with Bipolar Disorder in humanities 135 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. NAMI鈥檚 speaker will be discussing life with the mental illness that affects about two and a half percent of Americans 18 and older and the stigma that comes along with it. .

Live faculty talk: "Secrets of Polynesian navigation."听If you鈥檝e ever wondered how the ancient Polynesians sailed over 2,000 miles to Hawaii without a compass or a map 1,500 years ago, wonder no more. Professor John Stocke will be exploring the in-depth star navigation techniques they used to make the journey at 7 p.m. in Fiske Planetarium, and the event is free for students with a Buff OneCard. .

Brazilian dance workshop.听If you鈥檝e ever wanted to learn to samba, the seductive, rhythmic dance native to Brazil, then come to Studio 2 in the Rec from noon to 12:50 p.m. to get some instruction from a pro. The class is being held in honor of Colorado Brazil week, and is free and open to all levels of dancers. .
24 hours of reality: People-powered watch party.听Be sure to get to the Rec Center Lower Gym Meting Room at 2 p.m. to watch the international broadcast of climate negotiations with your fellow environment loving buffaloes. There will be free food, including pedal-powered smoothies, and lively discussion about the effects of the climate negotiations and ways to get involved. .
CU vs. USC football.听November is football month, folks, so don your black and gold attire and get down to Folsom Field at 7 p.m. to support your team. The buffs are 4-6 right now, so let鈥檚 help them get another W at home. .

Werk: The annual CU drag show.听Gather at 8 p.m. in the Lower Gym at the Rec to check out the festivities of the CU drag show, which welcomes drag performers both professional and amateur. The event is free and open to everyone dressed in all manner of attire. .
CU on the Weekend: "Two Centuries of the Grimms鈥 Fairy Tales."听Swing by the Butcher Auditorium in the Caruthers Biotech Building on East Campus from 1 to 3 p.m. to catch Professor Ann Schmiesing lecture on the Grimm鈥檚 Fairytales, the infamous children鈥檚 stories that are beloved all over the world. Professor Schmiesing will explore in her free lecture the history and significance of the tales, which have come to be important cultural symbols and intriguing topic matter. .
The Buffoons fall concert.听Everyone鈥檚 favorite college men鈥檚 a cappella group will be presenting their much awaited fall concert this evening in Old Main to belt out some favorites. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert is absolutely free. .

11 ways to get an A: Good writing is good revising.听Finals are approaching, and with that comes the flood of paper writing. If you feel like your writing ability leaves something to be desired, then get yourself to Flemming 170 from 2 to 3 p.m. Seth Myers, a writing expert, will be there to teach you some solid skills to boost your future writing grades. .
