Happy Halloween scholars! We have lots of fun events for you this week. I hope everyone wears a costume to school on Friday, even though Halloween is Saturday. I will be dressed as Super Girl so say hi if you see me! I am Sarah Ellsworth: IPHY major, 麻豆影院 native, and event connoisseur, writing to you from the comfort of beautiful CU-麻豆影院 on all of your weekly opportunities for community involvement, educational whatnot and supreme fun. Wednesday, Oct. 28

Republican presidential candidate debate watch party.听Join CUSG for the university's official watch party for the Republican presidential candidate debate听on Oct. 28, beginning at 4:45 pm听in the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the UMC. The primetime debate will be televised starting at 6 p.m. The event will feature discussions with CU-麻豆影院 professors on important political issues and panels of students and other leaders across campus. There will be light food provided. The event is open to current CU-麻豆影院 students only, so be sure to bring your Buff OneCard for entry. .

Wingmen.听If you鈥檝e never heard of the amazing sport of base-jumping, now is the time to learn. It鈥檚 the extreme activity that鈥檚 piquing the interest of professional skiers, adrenaline junkies, and skydivers alike. Be sure to catch the world premier of the documentary Wingmen at the Dairy Center for the Arts (2590 Walnut) at 7 p.m., followed by a live Q&A with the athletes from the film. .

Thursday, Oct. 29

Friday Night Film Series (on a Thursday!): Sinister 2.听If you鈥檙e a fan of horror films, then be sure to catch the super scary Sinister 2 at 8 p.m. in Chem 140. There will be a Halloween costume contest, and the winner will win tickets to the Haunted Fest concert. Admission is free, just bring your Buff OneCard. .

Distinguished Research Lecture with Diane McKnight.听Be sure to catch Professor Diane McKnight of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research from 4 to 6 p.m. in UMC 235 for her distinguished research lecture. McKnight鈥檚 discussion is titled 鈥淭he McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica: Ecosystems waiting for water,鈥 and is free and open to everyone. Be sure to register online for this fascinating lecture before you go. .

Friday, Oct. 30

Halloween Costume Contest.听Grab your cape or your fangs or your wig and get on down to the North Dining Room in the UMC between noon and 1:30 p.m. to participate in the costume contest. There will be 1st and 2nd place prizes for the best, most fabulously dressed Buffalo! .

Haunted Fest Concert.听Get your tickets for Program Council鈥檚 Haunted Fest Concert, which will take place in Balch Field House at 8 p.m. The awesome Porter Robinson will headline, accompanied by Sound Remedy, Minnesota, Ananda, and Exmag, and they鈥檒l be blasting some funky beats for the Haunted Fest. Brownie points if you wear your costume! Tickets are cheap (less than $7!) and still available. .

Saturday, Oct. 31

麻豆影院 Mall Crawl with Thriller Flash Mob.听Don鈥檛 miss the 麻豆影院 Halloween tradition of the Pearl Street Mall Crawl. This is where locals in costume flock to see and be seen during the evening and into the night after a little food and beverage. Make sure you catch the infamous 鈥淭hriller鈥 zombie flash mob in front of the courthouse at 8 p.m. and in front of Hapa Sushi at 8:30 p.m. Keep it classy buffs!

鈥淧estilence: Past and Present鈥 lecture.听Join the Chair of the history department and Pulitzer Prize winner, Elizabeth Fenn, in the Caruthers Biotechnology Building (East Campus) from 1 to 3 p.m. to discuss the horrible smallpox epidemic of the late 1770s. Fenn has recently penned the new book, Pox Americana, about the impact and history of the disease. The lecture is free and audience members will be encouraged to participate. .

8迟丑听Annual CU GOLD Institute conference.听Be sure to register now for CU GOLD鈥檚 awesome student leadership conference, which will take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in UMC 235. Registration is only $10 and open to all students with an interest in gaining more leadership ability. This is a great opportunity to boost your skills - not to be missed! .

Dark Side of the Rainbow laser show.听Fiske Planetarium will host one of the greatest ever albums, Dark Side of the Moon, which coincidentally enough, perfectly aligns with one of the greatest ever movies, The Wizard of Oz, at midnight. Come watch the film projected on the dome with lasers and a great soundtrack. Tickets are $7 with a Buff OneCard. See you guys there!
