Andrea Gibson, spoken word artist and author, will visit CU-麻豆影院 Nov. 5-6, to give a performance and host a workshop on gender theory. The performance and workshop are free for students, faculty and staff. Gibson's is being hosted by the Cultural Events Board and Gay-Straight Alliance.
Gibson will perform her acclaimed poetry on Nov. 5 at听7 p.m. in the听UMC听Glenn Miller Ballroom. Gibson鈥檚 work explores numerous topics including gender, class, white privilege and sexuality. No tickets are required.
On Nov. 6 at听3 p.m. in the听C4C听Abrams Lounge, Gibson will host a Gender Theory workshop for CU-麻豆影院 students, faculty and staff at no cost. This workshop provides the opportunity to delve into gender queer identities through the lens of contemporary poetry. Please R.S.V.P. for the workshop here:听.
Gibson has been described as being raw and fearless, which has given her an edge in the spoken word community. She is the first winner of the Women鈥檚 World Poetry Slam and her work has been featured on BBC, Air America, C-SPAN and Free Speech TV.
