On a crisp October evening, students gather outside the Koenig Alumni Association for the start of an annual event unlike any other on campus. They arrive clothed in flannels and fleece, but when they line up at the start of this one-mile race they’ve stripped to a bare minimum – literally. As CU traditions go, this is one you’re not likely to forget.

Welcome to the Nearly Naked Mile, a CU tradition managed by The Herd, the largest student organization on campus. The event supports A Precious Child, providing clothing to Colorado kids in need. Students arrive wearing the clothes they plan to donate, then comes the big strip just before the race begins. In 2014, more than 3,000 articles of clothing were donated.
