Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, best known for his Apollo 11 moonwalk, will speak at CU-麻豆影院 on Tuesday, March 3, at Macky Auditorium.听Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and Aldrin will begin speaking at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event, which is being hosted by the听,听will be $2 for CU-麻豆影院 students with a valid Buff OneCard and $15 for community members. Student tickets will be available starting Feb. 16 (Monday - Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.) on the first floor of the University Memorial Center (UMC) at the Distinguished Speakers Board table. Community tickets will be available听 starting Feb. 16.听The talk will include a Q&A with the audience.
On July 20, 1969, Aldrin and Neil Armstrong made history as the first two humans to set foot on the moon. Aldrin was the lunar module pilot on the听Apollo 11 mission. Since retiring from NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and his position as commander of the Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, Aldrin has remained at the forefront of efforts to ensure a continued leading role for America in manned space exploration. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor among more than 50 other distinguished awards and medals he has received from the United States and numerous other countries.
