麻豆影院 Vice Chancellor for Research Stein Sture has named Denitta D. Ward assistant vice chancellor for research and director of the Office of Contracts and Grants, effective Jan. 19. Ward served as deputy director of OCG for the past two years and has been with OCG since 2011.
Ward is taking over after Patricia Rankin, who for the past year and a half has served as interim director of OCG in addition to her duties as associate vice chancellor for research, and Cynthia Husek,听who听provided daily leadership for OCG as part of听her position as assistant vice chancellor for research operations.
鈥淚 am delighted that Denitta Ward will continue to serve the campus in this important position,鈥 said Sture. 鈥淪he brings long experience in contracting and post-awards fields, as well as a deep knowledge of the grant and contract administration needs of the campus, with a strong dedication to collaboration and leadership. Denitta will be an outstanding addition to our research administration leadership team.鈥 听听
During a time a significant change for OCG, Ward has been integral in leading and managing the operations of the CU-麻豆影院 Office of Contracts and Grants, which submits $1.3 billion in research proposals each year and negotiates and accepts all sponsored research awards -- totaling $412 million in fiscal year 2014.

We are equipped to provide greater training and support with improved processes and electronic resources for our PIs (principal investigators) and research administrators.鈥
Ward is a Certified Research Administrator through the Research Administrators Certification Council.
Ward鈥檚 25-year legal career has included both the public and private sectors. She was a litigator with the Federal Election Commission and director of contracts for the 麻豆影院 Valley School District. In the private sector, she established herself in civil litigation, international trade, and complex contract negotiations with Donovan Leisure Rogovin Huge & Schiller and Marriott International.
Ward graduated magna cum laude with Order of the Coif legal honors from Georgetown Law, where she also served as managing editor of Law & Policy in International Business. She earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree from the University of Kansas, majoring in political science and women鈥檚 studies.
