This year there are significant changes to the student move-in process. The primary residence hall move-in days for Fall 2014 will be Monday, Aug. 18 and Thursday, Aug. 21.
Monday, Aug. 18
Approximately 900 students are expected to move into their residence halls. While additional traffic will create congestion, Parking and Transportation Services will not displace any parking permit holders. We suggest you allow extra commute time, and use alternate transportation.
Thursday, Aug. 21
Housing and Dining Services has a new move-in strategy in which approximately 4,600 students will be moving into their rooms on Aug. 21. The new plan incorporates staging areas across campus allowing students to organize before driving to “Quick Drop Zones” by their residence halls where rolling carts will be available for unloading. After 10 minutes for unloading, parents/students are required to move their vehicle(s) to the parking area located on the southeast corner of Colorado Avenue/Regent Drive. In order to accommodate the activity on Aug. 21, parking permit holders in several lots must be temporarily relocated. If your permitted lot will be affected, you will receive a permit holder email with maps detailing alternate parking arrangements.
With more than an additional 4,600 vehicles on campus, roadways and parking lots will be congested. If you haven’t used your EcoPass, now would be a great time to try. RTD offers the Stampede, Hop, J, and 209 routes, which will transport you to, and around, campus. Check outwhich will plan your entire route from home to campus. You are encouraged to consider public transportation or parking in alternate areas to expedite the move-in process and reduce traffic flow and congestion that will occur around residence halls and main campus parking areas. To aid campus traffic flow from the high volume of vehicles, on Aug. 21 metered parking along Regent Drive, Wardenburg Drive, Colorado Avenue, 18th St., and Sewall entrance will be unavailable. Metered lots affected are: 207, 317, 319, 354, 359, 377, 381, and 421. Please review ourfor locations. (To enlarge press Control and the + sign for easier viewing.)
