It鈥檚 a night of local folk talent as , and have teamed up with Elephant Revival, Cold River City and 2012 CU Battle of the Bands winner, Cascade Kinzie,听 for a concert on Wednesday, March 13, at 8 p.m. in Glenn Miller Ballroom. Tickets for the show are $8 for students in advance, $10 at the door and $25 for the public.
Global Brigades is an international, student-led non-profit organization dedicated to improving sustainable life qualities of people around the world - specifically Ghana, Panama and Honduras - while respecting local cultures. Later this year, the CU-麻豆影院 chapter will travel to Panama to bring medical supplies and raise awareness about the medical issues facing Panamanians today. Money raised during the show will go to benefit this trip.
Elephant Revival is a five-piece experimental folk band from Nederland. Having played with performers such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic and Yonder Mountain String Band, they are also no stranger to performing fundraising events. In 2011, Elephant Revival performed to support Telluride鈥檚 KOTO Community Radio and also in support of the Washington State Parks system.
Cold River City has been turning heads in the 麻豆影院/Denver scene in just a year, performing all over town in various bars and venues - most notably, the Fox Theater and Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. Their popularity has given them a strong following and they ended up placing third in CU鈥檚 2012 Battle of the Bands behind Cascade Kinzie, who is playing their first show on campus since the win.
Allen Gula, co-founder of Global Brigades Ghana who now resides in eastern Panama, also will speak during the concert.听
