The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has upgraded the campus’ Student Printing and Scanning (SPS) system to give you better, more convenient print drivers, locations and capabilities.
Get The New Print Drivers Now!
With just seven standard types of student printers, you no longer need to manage a potentially large number of print drivers.
To get started with improved student printing:
- If you previously installed them, you must first remove old SPS printers and Pharos software from your computer, then download and install the new SPS print drivers and new Pharos software. Instructions to do so are available for the Mac and also for the PC.
- Find a printer on the new, interactive campus printer map!
Send Your Print Job to a Central Queue; Pick It up at a Location Convenient to You!
We’ve all been there – running across campus to pick up a print job at a specific printer, wondering the whole time, “Why did I choose a printer that’s so out of the way?” With just seven standard printer types, you can now print to the printer type that best suits your needs. Your job will go to a central queue for the printer type you choose. This enables you to access your print job wherever that printer type is located, giving you more flexibility and convenience.
Your document will now stay in the secure print queue longer than before – for 24 hours from the time you send your print job. Now you can go to class, get lunch and then pick up your print job, instead of rushing to a printer before the job vanishes from the queue.
Semester Allotment for Student Printing
Each semester, as part of the Student Computing Fee, you receive a financial allotment on your Buff OneCard that you can use for printing or copying on campus printers. You can add money to your account at the , at a Campus Card Value Transfer Station (VTS), or by visiting the Online Card Office.
Mobile Printing
The SPS upgrade provides the foundation for mobile printing, which will allow you to print from mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablet computers. OIT will let you know when mobile printing is available, so stay tuned for more information!
