This time last year, I didn't know what CUSG was. Of course, I knew CU had a student government, but that was the extent of my knowledge.
As the new election commissioner for CUSG, I feel that a large part of my job is to share information with you that I wish had been shared with me before recent months.
For those who don鈥檛 know, CUSG is the most financially powerful and autonomous student government in the entire nation. CUSG oversees a budget of $36 million, and serves as liaison between the student body and the CU administration.
CUSG takes part in important decisions that affect every student at CU, and I want you to know that you have the right to make your voice heard.
We work for you, and we will be able to best represent you if we know how you wish to be represented. A crucial way to ensure this will happen is through our CUSG elections.
I encourage you to consider running for a representative seat this fall, and moreover, I encourage you to vote in our elections. Your vote will make a difference. Your participation will directly impact you during your time as a CU student.

9/10/12: Candidate Petition Packets available at CUSG office, UMC 125, or by email request
10/1/12: Candidate Petitions due by 5 p.m.
10/3/12: Mandatory Candidates Meeting in UMC Aspen, 6 p.m.
10/12/12: Candidate Bios Due to CUSG by 5 p.m.
10/16/12 or 10/17/12: Candidates Debate. Exact date TBD. Visual Arts Complex Auditorium, 7 p.m.
10/22/12 鈥� 10/25/12: Election Week. There will be an additional Candidates Debate this week. TBD.
