A search committee has been named to identify finalists for the position of dean of the University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 Law School.

David Getches, the current dean, will complete his eighth year in that position in June. Getches announced his resignation in August, citing his eagerness to resume teaching and research. He will remain at CU-麻豆影院 as a law professor.

Jim Williams, dean of the CU-麻豆影院 Libraries, has been named chair of the search committee. Williams said the committee's goal is to recommend a list of finalists to the provost by March 2011. The new dean would then begin his or her duties by July 1.

In addition to the chair, members of the search committee include law professors Lakshman Guruswamy, Sarah Krakoff, Dayna Matthew, Paul Ohm, Jill Tompkins and Charles Wilkinson. The student representative is Bridget Newman and the community representatives are William Callison, an attorney at Faegre & Benson, and Jan Steiert, general counsel at Electrum USA Ltd. The staff representative is Douglas Enzor, assistant to the law dean, the CU Foundation representative is John Pepperdine and Mary Jane Campbell, assistant to the dean of the CU Libraries, will staff the search committee.

Established in 1892, the University of Colorado Law School is a top 25 public law school. It was a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools, organized in 1901, and has been an American Bar Association-approved law school since 1923.

The search committee will begin its confidential review of applications on Nov. 22, 2010, and the search will remain open until the position is filled.
