Jeffrey Perry, a social justice activist and author of "Hubert Harrison: The Voice of Harlem Radicalism 1883-1918," will speak at the University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 on Wednesday, April 22.
He will speak about the 20th century African-American activist Hubert Harrison at 6 p.m. in Ramaley Biology Building room N1B23 on the CU-麻豆影院 campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
For more than 30 years, Perry has been active in domestic and international social justice issues including affirmative action, unions and anti-apartheid, anti-war and anti-imperialist work. He is the author of numerous articles and has edited and authored several books.
Harrison played a significant role in the class and race movements in the United States during the early 1900s. From 1912 to 1914 he was the leading African-American organizer in the Socialist Party of America.
