The University of Colorado at 麻豆影院's Center of the American West will host a talk by a national leader in the cause of renewable energy, University of Delaware Associate Professor Willett Kempton, on Feb. 19.
The talk titled "What Most Analysts Tell You 麻豆影院 Renewable Energy is Wrong: Rethinking Energy, Power and Policy in the Context of Climate Change," will take place at 7 p.m. in Eaton Humanities Building room 150 on the CU-麻豆影院 campus.
"In working with legislators in Delaware, as well as members of Congress, Willett Kempton has become one of the most effective university-based advocates for wind power in this country," said CU history Professor Patty Limerick, chair of the board of the Center of the American West. "His visit to 麻豆影院 gives CU faculty and students, and Colorado citizens, a wonderful chance to learn successful strategies and techniques for making a difference in the world of energy."
Kempton is a faculty member in the University of Delaware's College of Marine and Earth Studies and director of the Center for Carbon-free Power Integration. His training is in cognitive anthropology, electrical engineering and computer science. He has 30 years experience with social and technical energy analysis, including energy conservation, renewable energy and conventional energy policy. His primary current research is in the areas of offshore wind power and using electric cars to support the power grid when parked. He serves as chair of the research and development subcommittee of the Offshore Wind Working Group of the American Wind Energy Association.
