The University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 will present three public panel discussions and celebrate its outstanding faculty during the third annual Fall Convocation on Oct. 17. The event will take place as part of Family Weekend.
The convocation will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will include an awards ceremony in Old Main Chapel followed by a reception at the CU Heritage Center. All of the events are free and open to the public.
"This is an annual event where the campus community gathers to celebrate the achievements of the great faculty and students we have at CU," said Jeff Cox, associate vice chancellor for faculty affairs. "Provost Phil DiStefano will recognize the people who have been given tenure and promotions, then give out faculty and student achievement awards."
The awards ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Old Main Chapel followed by a reception in the CU Heritage Center at 2:30 p.m. Three panel discussions also will be held in Old Main Chapel on the following topics:
o 10 a.m., "The Literary Value of the Past," a panel organized by Professor Michael Zimmerman, director of the Center for Humanities and the Arts, and featuring Professors Katherine Eggert, David Glimp and Paul Gordon.
o 11 a.m., "In Less Than Three Weeks: Understanding a Historic Election," a panel organized by Professor Kenneth Bickers, chair of the department of political science, and featuring Professor Eric Juenke.
o 3 p.m., "Energy Demand vs. Global Warming: CU 麻豆影院's Response to a Global Dilemma," a panel organized by Professor Carl Koval, director of the Energy Initiative, and featuring Professors Niels Damrauer, Kevin Doran and Will Medlin.
The Fall Convocation is part of the larger Family Weekend series of events being held at CU-麻豆影院 Oct. 17-19. The popular Family Weekend enables parents and other family members to visit students on campus and to participate in a broad array of activities.
