Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and First Lady Jeannie Ritter will be among the well-known participants gathering at the University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 Nov. 7 to celebrate the region聮s rich literary heritage.

聯Words to Stir the Soul: Celebrating Our Public Servants,聰 presented by the Center of the American West, also will feature Lt. Gov. Barbara O聮Brien, Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey and Justice Gregory Hobbs, state Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald, Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon, House Majority Leader Alice Madden and others. Each will read a selection from their favorite Western-inspired literature for up to five minutes each.

The 11th annual event will begin at 7 p.m. in Old Main Chapel on the CU-麻豆影院 campus. The event is free and open to the public and CU-麻豆影院 Chancellor G.P. 聯Bud聰 Peterson will give welcoming remarks.

聯This year the center honors the tireless and sometimes underappreciated investment of time and effort on the part of Colorado聮s public servants,聰 said history Professor Patty Limerick, the center聮s faculty director. 聯With Mayor John Hickenlooper as our host, we will celebrate the dedicated spirit that drew these exceptional individuals into their challenging line of work.

聯Participants will read passages from Western novels, essays, poems and memoirs that have inspired, moved, educated and enlightened them, and that represent the Western values that the readers have chosen to serve.聰
