An array of activities await new students at the University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 beginning Aug. 21 including a welcome convocation hosted by Chancellor G.P. 聯Bud聰 Peterson, a 聯Global Jam聰 featuring international food and music, hiking and biking tours, outdoor movies and picnics.

The activities are meant to help students get acquainted with the campus and surrounding community before the fall semester begins Aug. 27. The 聯Welcome Back聰 activities are in addition to the usual orientation sessions covering class registration, university policies and student services. Events include:

聲 Tuesday, Aug. 21-23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., students can stop by the Wardenburg Health Center聮s north lawn to take a tour and meet health care providers, get help with immunization forms and health-plan selection, and to pick up free cold-care kits.

聲 Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., campus residence halls will host social activities for new residents, including meeting new residence hall neighbors, night hikes and games.

聲 Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m., the International Peer Mentors group will host a night out. Interested students should meet in front of the Environmental Design Building.

聲 Thursday, Aug. 23, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., all first-year residence hall students are required to attend a residence hall meeting with their floormates to get acquainted and learn about residence hall services and policies, the roommate agreement and the New Student Welcome activities.

聲 Thursday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, the CU Student Recreation Center and Residence Hall Association will host a free 聯Ice and Dice聰 event in the Recreation Center where students are invited to skate on the indoor rink, try the rock climbing wall, learn new dance moves or play blackjack for prizes.

聲 Friday, Aug. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to noon, Chancellor G.P. 聯Bud聰 Peterson will welcome all new students at a mandatory convocation in Folsom Stadium.

聲 Friday, Aug. 24, from noon to 2 p.m., new students can join faculty and staff for gourmet food and entertainment from around the world at 聯Global Jam聰 on the newly renovated Farrand Field.

聲 Friday, Aug. 24, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the campus environmental center in the UMC, room 355, will be open for tours. New students can learn about CU-麻豆影院聮s status as a model 聯green聰 campus.

聲 Friday, Aug. 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., all residence hall members are invited to meet up with their floormates and make plans for the first week of school before going to the University Memorial Center for the 聯Welcome Fest.

聲 Friday, Aug. 24, from 8 p.m. to midnight, students are invited to the UMC聮s 聯Welcome Fest,聰 featuring live music, a street ball tournament, casino games, free food and prizes.

聲 Friday, Aug. 24, from 9:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., students are invited to a laser show at Fiske Planetarium.

聲 Friday, Aug. 24, at 11 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 p.m., students are invited to free movies on Farrand Field. Shrek 3 will be shown Friday and Spiderman 3 will be shown Saturday evening.

聲 Saturday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m., the Herd, the student arm of the CU-麻豆影院 Alumni Association, will host a hike from the Koenig Alumni Center to the third flatiron, followed by lunch.

聲 Saturday, Aug. 25, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., a bike tour of the campus and community bike path network will begin at the CU Bike Station east of the University Memorial Center. A picnic will follow the tour.

聲 Saturday, Aug. 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., students are invited to a residence hall picnic on the Regent lawn.

聲 Saturday, Aug. 25, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Program Council will present a free concert on Farrand Field.

聲 Sunday, Aug. 26, from noon to 2:30 p.m., an introduction to campus computing resources available to students will be held in the UMC, room 245.

聲 Sunday, Aug. 26, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., campus buildings will be open for students to find their classrooms before classes begin.

聲 Sunday, Aug. 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., new students are invited to the CU Bookstore for personalized help in purchasing their textbooks with free tacos available.

聲 Monday, Aug. 27, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Center for Multicultural Affairs will host a welcome gathering featuring music and food on the Regent lawn.
