The University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 is adding $1,000 to the reward offered by 麻豆影院 County Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest and filing of charges regarding a racially motivated assault that occurred last Friday in 麻豆影院.
CU-麻豆影院's addition will bring the reward amount to $2,500, including $1,000 from Crime Stoppers and $500 pledged by a professor of the victim, according to Ron Stump, vice chancellor for student affairs.
"We are extremely upset to hear of this assault on one of our students and want to help in the effort to identify the suspect," Stump said. "I urge anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward."
The victim, a 22-year-old senior at CU-麻豆影院, told police officers he was walking with a friend near the 1600 block of Broadway about 2 a.m. Friday when a maroon van with gold stripes approached and a passenger began yelling racial epithets.
A passenger got out of the van and struck the victim in the face, breaking his jaw. He was taken to 麻豆影院 Community Hospital for treatment. Stump said campus officials have offered assistance to him and his family following the attack.
CU-麻豆影院 faculty member Rodger Kram, associate professor of integrative physiology, donated $500 of his personal funds to help increase the reward offered by Crime Stoppers. The victim is one of his students.
The suspect is described as a white male, 18 to 24 years old, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 225 pounds. He has dark brown hair and was last seen wearing a white polo shirt with stripes and blue jeans.
