Local students will be among the 1,076 students who receive degrees Aug. 11 during summer commencement at the University of Colorado at 麻豆影院.

The summer ceremony, which is much smaller than the spring and winter ceremonies, is the only one held outside on the lawn of the historic Norlin Quadrangle in the heart of the 麻豆影院 campus.

Outstanding graduates named by the schools and colleges for the summer 2001 commencement are Michelle Allen of Nederland, Colo., College of Architecture and Planning, who will receive a bachelor's degree in planning; Mark Kranjcec of 麻豆影院, Colo., College of Business and Administration, bachelor's degree in marketing; and Albert Vercellino of Elizabeth, Colo., College of Engineering and Applied Science, bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

Also named as outstanding graduates are Ian York of 麻豆影院, Colo., College of Arts and Sciences, who will receive bachelor's degrees in biochemistry, fine arts and molecular, cellular and developmental biology; and Lenox Powell of Thornton, Colo., School of Journalism and Mass Communication, bachelor's degrees in media studies and humanities.

CU-麻豆影院, the state's oldest public institution of higher education, is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2001.
