Nicole Cavarra, a marketing student at the University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 College of Business and Administration, was selected as one of 10 national recipients聴and one of four undergraduates聴for the prestigious Travel Industry Association (TIA) Foundation scholarship.

The scholarship, awarded to the top students in the country, supports individuals pursuing careers in the tourism field.

Cavarra is from Coal Creek, Colo., and has consistently been on the Dean聮s List at CU-麻豆影院, with more than 20 honors accumulated so far in her undergraduate career.

Cavarra is interested in sports tourism because of her personal experience in the field. As an outstanding golfer with a handicap of five, she plans to become a professional golfer and open her own teaching facility, possibly at a mountain resort.

The TIA Foundation was created for the purpose of benefiting the U.S. travel and tourism industry. It supports activities vital to the concerns of the entire industry.

Applicants, nominated by a professor in the field of travel and tourism, must write an essay on "The Segment of Tourism That Interests Me and Why."

CU-麻豆影院 Professor Charles Goeldner, who nominated Cavarra, is one of the most widely known and highly respected tourism education professionals in the nation. "She is our very best student," he said. "This is an outstanding honor for Nicole and brings great acclaim to our program."
