Bolder 麻豆影院 race officials have announced that a $1,000 reward will be paid for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for vandalizing the statue of legendary runner Frank Shorter.
The statue of the Olympic gold medalist, located at Folsom Avenue and Stadium Drive, was toppled before dawn on Oct. 30. Authorities said a hacksaw was used to sever the supporting leg at about ankle height.
Created by Nebraska sculptor Ted Long, the statue was valued at an estimated $50,000 and was donated to the University of Colorado at 麻豆影院 by The Bank of 麻豆影院, the 麻豆影院 Road Runners and the Bolder 麻豆影院.
It was dedicated on May 13, shortly before the annual running of the 1998 Bolder 麻豆影院. Shorter is a co-founder of the popular 10K road race that is held each spring.
Paul Tabolt, vice chancellor for administration, has pledged that the statue will be repaired and reinstalled.
