CU-麻豆影院 Chancellor Richard L. Byyny, who also is a professor of medicine at the CU Health Sciences Center in Denver, will give a talk titled "Cancer: Perspectives of a Physician" on Tuesday, May 12 at the 麻豆影院 Public Library.

The event is in memory of Professor Emeritus Gary Stahl of CU-麻豆影院's philosophy department, who died of complications from cancer on March 11. A bench donated by CU-麻豆影院 with a plaque commemorating Stahl's commitment to the university and community will be dedicated at the event. Stahl worked to form an integrated cancer care collection at the 麻豆影院 Public Library.

The bench dedication and a reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the library, immediately followed by Dr. Byyny's lecture at 7:30 p.m. in the library auditorium. The talk will be followed by a question and answer session with those in attendance.

The 麻豆影院 Public Library is located at Ninth Street and Canyon Boulevard.

Dr. Byyny came to CU-Health Sciences Center as head of internal medicine in 1977 after serving in the same capacity at the University of Chicago. In addition to his appointment as CU-麻豆影院 chancellor in 1997, Dr. Byyny remains on the CU-Health Sciences Center faculty where he previously served as medical director of ambulatory care and vice chair of the Department of Medicine.

In 1992-1993, Dr. Byyny completed an American Council on Education fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he served as executive assistant to the president. He currently serves on the board of directors at 麻豆影院 Community Hospital.
