The International Women聮s Alliance at CU-麻豆影院 is hosting three workshops a day, March 3 through March 6, during International Women聮s Week, which began Sunday with a keynote speech by Winona LaDuke, an internationally acclaimed Native American and environmental activist.
The workshops are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conference rooms 158 and 159, located in the University Memorial Center.
The theme of this year聮s event is 聯Globalization: Bringing it home. Women Working Locally for Global Justice.聰 The workshops will cover issues such as breast cancer, women聮s political action, sweatshop labor, sexuality, healing food obsessions, self defense and diversity.
On Thursday, March 5, Dr. Deborah Toler, a specialist on the global political economy and racism, hunger and environmental issues in Africa and Haiti, will speak at the Forum Room in the UMC at 7 p.m.
International Women聮s week will end with the annual Ethnic Food Fest on Saturday, March 7, at noon in the Dennis Small Cultural Center, UMC room 303. All events are free and open to the public. However, to attend the Food Fest, people should RSVP by March 4 because space is limited.
