With budding flowers on campus, warmer temperatures and final exams just around the corner, it is starting to feel more like spring each day. This is a time of the year when many students may be thinking about their plans for the summer break and seeking opportunities to gain professional experience. Additionally, many campus departments are also looking to hire students for a variety of positions over the next few months and the fall semester. I am excited to share more about how the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Financial Aid are streamlining the process of connecting Buffs with on-campus jobs and making it easier for faculty and staff to hire student employees.听
Handshake: Your one-stop shop for student job posting听
Beginning this semester, all campus departments are encouraged to use Handshake as the platform for posting student employment jobs and internships, including hourly and work-study positions. will be phased out by July 1, 2024, and Handshake will become the sole place to post student jobs.听听听
Handshake is a tool that Career Services uses to share thousands of off-campus jobs with students. Each CU 麻豆影院 undergraduate and graduate student already has a Handshake account, regardless of their major or year. Moving all on-campus student employment opportunities to a platform that Buffs are familiar with will help improve our processes and make positions easier for students to find. Shaping tomorrow鈥檚 leaders through on-campus work听
We have over 9,000 student hourly and work-study positions on campus, giving our Buffs many opportunities to expand their career knowledge and skills. With this, faculty and staff who supervise student employees can help shape tomorrow鈥檚 leaders.听
On-campus student employment is a high impact practice and can be a transformative experience for our Buffs during their time at CU 麻豆影院. Working on campus allows students to learn outside the classroom, develop foundational skills, gain an understanding of basic work etiquette and build a network with supervisors and colleagues. Many students also cultivate a greater sense of belonging through their on-campus job.听听
If you supervise student employees, you can enhance the student experience by facilitating their professional development. Be on the lookout for resources that Career Services will be sharing to help support this growth.听

Faculty and staff can visit the Student Employment website to learn more about using Handshake and posting student job opportunities. Career Services is also offering for faculty and staff to answer questions about Handshake.听
