Bio

Alena is a first-year Phd student from Iowa. In 2023, she graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Ethics and Public Policy. As an undergraduate research assistant, she worked at the Center for the Study of Group Processes and analyzed three-person group interaction. Her current research interests include analyzing legal institutions as political and economic tools in reproducing and sustaining inequality and looking at how different crimes are labeled in various policy contexts.
