Technology and Innovation Skills Workshops are short, 3-hour professional development courses designed to empower teachers and other professionals to integrate new technologies into the classroom.
3D Design and Circuits with TinkerCad:
- Learn to use TinkerCad, the TinkerCad Classroom feature, and briefly explore circuit design with TinkerCad’s circuit builder. Participants can choose to learn how to use their own 3D printer or Science Discovery's.
- Optional: Borrow a CU-issued 3D printer for up to a month.
Invention Literacy with Makey Makey and Scratch:Â
- Use Makey Makeys and Scratch to connect your computer to the real world using simple circuits, and create your own invention with simple household materials.Â
- Optional: Each participant receives a Makey Makey (additional charges will apply).Â
Drag and Drop Coding and Java with micro:bit:Â
- Learn to code using micro:bit - first by using drag and drop coding, and then moving on to editing code in Java. This is a great way to get an introduction to Java.Â
- Optional: Each participant receives a micro:bit go bundle (additional charges will apply; subject to availability).
​Program Logistics:Â
- Minimum of 5 teachers per course, maximum of 12.
- Cost per course will depend on travel distance and options.
- Timing is extremely flexible. Science Discovery will work with you to find a time that meets your needs.
