Double Helix Optics, a 3D nano-imaging company spun out of CU 麻豆影院 technology, won SPIE鈥檚 2019 Prism Award in the Diagnostics and Therapeutics category for its innovative SPINDLE庐 imaging system.

A little piece of Colorado is going to the moon. When NASA launches Orion EM-1 in 2020, its first mission to orbit the moon since 1972, experiments from CU 麻豆影院 will be aboard.

Abigail Posner, head of strategy for Google鈥檚 Brand Unit, shared her top tips for unlocking creativity in a talk at Macky Auditorium. Posner was the third speaker in the university鈥檚 annual Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series. Other speakers include former Secretary of Defense and Central Intelligence Agency Director Robert Gates and the first woman of color in space, astronaut Mae Jemison.

The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) has announced the campus will host its second annual Research & Innovation Week Oct. 14-18, 2019. The event is a weeklong celebration and showcase of research, scholarship and creative work across campus. Last year鈥檚 inaugural edition featured poster sessions, tours of select campus facilities, panel discussions, research showcases, a research blitz, art exhibits, TED-style talks and much more.

The Distinguished Research Lectureship is among the highest honors bestowed by the faculty upon a CU 麻豆影院 colleague. Each year, the Research & Innovation Office (RIO) requests nominations and a faculty review panel recommends one faculty member as a recipient. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 5. Nominations should be submitted online.

CU 麻豆影院 assistant professors Edward Chuong and Sandeep Sharma have been awarded prestigious Sloan Research Fellowships for 2019, one of the highest honors for early-career researchers. The fellowships, awarded yearly by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation since 1955, mark Chuong and Sharma as among the most promising researchers in their fields.

The company was founded in 2016 by PhD student Murad Kablan and Assistant Professor Eric Keller from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Stateless鈥� revolutionary technology seeks to 鈥渢ake network applications to the next level with a ground-breaking approach to connectivity,鈥� said Kablan in a statement.

In hopes of making valuable industry connections to commercialize and advance their technologies, 25 university ventures spun out of Colorado research institutions and federal laboratories pitched to local investors and venture capitalists from both coasts.

Researchers at CU 麻豆影院 are starting work on a new collaborative grant from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that will improve solar wind modeling.
