Transforming economies for better jobs
CU 麻豆影院 doctoral student Tafadzwa Tivaringe recently received an invitation from the United Nations to attend the WIDER Development conference this September in Thailand.
The invitation came as a result of his years spent working in Cape Town and his doctoral research, which includes a recent peer-reviewed paper titled 鈥淭he Social Unemployment Gap in South Africa,鈥 which examines graduate unemployment in the country.
鈥淭his work is deeply personal for me,鈥 said Tivaringe, who earned his master鈥檚 degree at the University of Cape Town. 鈥淭he conference focuses specifically on policies in developing countries at the highest level and brings together key stakeholders in the policy process. It provides a powerful platform for me to highlight the plight of graduates in South Africa鈥檚 labor market and contribute to a conversation on how to address such challenges.鈥
