Dear [first],

Due to a recent class eligibility change by the Department of Writing and Rhetoric, the [subject] [catalog number] class you retook in [semester] is retroactively eligible for grade replacement. At the time, your request was denied because the class wasn’t eligible for grade replacement.

To retroactively request grade replacement for this class, please email us by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 29. We’ll re-review your original request based on this eligibility change and email you a new approval or denial decision. You cannot cancel this request once submitted.

If we approve your retroactive grade replacement request:

  • The grade you earned in your most recent prior attempt will still appear on your transcript, but it will be replaced by the grade you earned in [semester] in your cumulative GPA and credit totals (effective July 2).
  • The credit hours for this class will be deducted from your total grade replacement credit limit.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Extended Grace Period for Spring 2020 Pass/Fail /registrar/2020/05/05/spring-2020-grade-mode-change-grace-period Extended Grace Period for Spring 2020 Pass/Fail Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 05/05/2020 - 11:20 Tags: Academic Dates Spring 2020 Student Announcements Office of the Registrar Related Announcements

If you missed the deadline to take one or more of your spring classes pass/fail, you may still have time.

CU Â鶹ӰԺ is offering a grace period from now through Monday, May 11 (11:59 p.m.) for classes with a pass/fail deadline of April 30 or May 1.

To change your grade mode for a class during the grace period, submit a pass/fail request form.

Requests will be processed beginning May 12, and transcripts with final grades will be available on May 14.

Reminder of Spring 2020 Pass/Fail Policy Changes

CU Â鶹ӰԺ lifted pass/fail restrictions for Spring 2020 for all majors and degrees (excludes Colorado Law), allowing students to declare a pass/fail option for most classes this semester.

Additionally, to comply with new Colorado Department of Higher Education requirements, CU Â鶹ӰԺ added a new P+ grade for Spring 2020.

If you have questions about whether the pass/fail option is right for you, contact your advisor or speak with a financial aid counselor.

You can also continue to check the CU Â鶹ӰԺ coronavirus updates and resources page for more information.

Grace Period for Spring 2020 Pass/Fail Requests /registrar/2020/05/05/spring-2020-pass-fail-request-grace-period Grace Period for Spring 2020 Pass/Fail Requests Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 05/05/2020 - 09:57 Tags: Faculty & Staff Announcements Grading Spring 2020 Student Policies Registrar Network Related Announcements Email to instructors: "Extended Grace Period for Spring 2020 Pass/Fail," 5/5/2020

CU Â鶹ӰԺ is providing a grace period for Spring 2020 classes with a pass/fail deadline of April 30 or May 1. Undergraduate and graduate students now have until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 11, to submit a pass/fail request form to change their grade mode from letter grade to pass/fail or vice versa.

Previously extended late drop and grade replacement request deadlines remain unaffected. On May 12, we'll notify students who changed their grade replacement class to pass/fail that they're no longer eligible for grade replacement.

We're asking instructors for their assistance by taking the following actions:

  • To limit confusion for students, if you have not already posted your grade rosters, please approve and save them by the grading deadline, but do not post them. (Posting grade rosters before the extended grace period pass/fail requests have been processed by the Office of the Registrar may lead to confusion and or additional inquiries from students regarding the status of their request.) On May 12 we will automatically post all completed grade rosters with a saved status of "Approved." After posting rosters, we will also convert passing grades for students who selected pass/fail to a P+ or P grade

Clarification: If you have already posted your grades, you don't need to take any action. Your students can still request pass/fail, and your posted grades will automatically convert to the student's selected grade mode starting May 12.

  • Remind your students that final grades won't post in Buff Portal until May 12, and may temporarily post under the old grading basis before the conversion is processed. Transcripts with final grades will be available May 14.
  • Help your students make an informed decision by securely sharing how they are doing in your class so far (i.e., ensure your in-progress grades in Canvas are up to date).

We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we make these process adjustments in support of student success during these uncertain times.

Some students are currently experiencing issues when attempting to change a Spring 2020 class's grade mode to pass/fail.

At this time, we're recommending that these students email registrar@colorado.edu with the full URL of the page and a screenshot of the error. An Office of the Registrar representative will assist them and, if necessary, manually change the class to pass/fail on their behalf.

Dear [first],

We are contacting you to provide clarification on a recent campuswide announcement regarding pass/fail (P/F) for Spring 2020.

In the interest of providing consistent campus updates around COVID-19, this message was sent to all enrolled students. However, as the P/F option is not available for Colorado Law courses, this update on P/F does not impact law students. We apologize for any confusion.

A reminder that all Colorado Law classes will be graded on a credit/no-credit (CR/NC) basis in Spring 2020. The CR grade is equivalent to a grade of "pass" in Colorado Law's current system. An NC grade will be assigned to those students not performing sufficiently, in the judgment of the instructor, to receive credit for the class. Please continue to refer to Colorado Law's grading policy for Spring 2020 for additional information.

Colorado Law students who have questions about CR/NC should check with their academic advisors or contact lawreg@colorado.edu.
