This email provides new information on pass/fail (P/F) for student option classes in Spring 2020.

On March 26, CU Â鶹ӰԺ announced the lifting of pass/fail restrictions for students in most undergraduate and graduate classes this semester. To comply with a new requirement from the Colorado Department of Higher Education to identify any pass (P) grade awarded in Spring 2020 representing a grade of C- or higher, CU Â鶹ӰԺ has also added a new P+ grade to the student option grading basis (law students excluded).Ìý

  • If you take any student option classes P/F, final grades of C- or above will be converted to a P+ grade, and grades of D+, D and D- will convert to the standard P grade.
  • ÌýClasses that are only graded on a P/F basis remain unchanged, and will not include the P+ option.
  • ÌýYour transcript will include an explanation that the P+ grade was used in Spring 2020 only.

All P+ and P grades earned in Spring 2020 will count in credit totals, but neither will calculate in your term or cumulative GPA. Both grades will apply toward the requirements for degree programs (as well as to minors and certificates), and will not be counted in the P grade limits as set by colleges, schools and programs. Original letter grades submitted by your instructor may be reviewed by academic departments in order to check course prerequisite and registration overrides only.

A reminder that the deadline to declare a class pass/fail has been extended to the last day of classes for Spring 2020 (undergraduate and graduate students only). If you have questions about whether the P/F option is right for you, contact your advisor. You can also continue to check the for more information.
