Jeffrey Cameron, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at CU听麻豆影院. His research group focuses on the principles and mechanisms underlying the spatial and temporal organization of photosynthesis in cyanobacteria and eukaryotic organelles using synthetic biology and microscopy. Ancestors of modern day cyanobacteria were the first to perform oxygenic photosynthesis. These reactions have changed the atmospheric composition of this planet and have dramatically shifted the evolutionary trajectory of earth鈥檚 inhabitants. Because photosynthesis provides the building blocks for the generation of food, fuel, green chemicals, and other useful products essential for life on earth, understanding how photosynthesis is regulated and identifying potential routes for improvement will benefit society and the environment.听
