Decarbonization
Decarbonization of sectors and industrial processes, that is where renewable energy replaces fossil-based energy, and steps that have a high carbon-dependence are replaced, is crucial to a clean energy transition.
Researchers in RASEI are exploring catalytic processes that dramatically improve the energy efficiency of industrial chemical syntheses, or offer alternative routes. Other avenues of investigation include replacing carbon- and energy-intensive building materials, such as Portland Cement, with carbon neutral, or even carbon negative bio-manufactured building blocks.
