PWR
The Program for Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) is an award-winning, independent program that collaborates with various on- and off-campus partners to train students in the critical, creative, and persuasive arts of applied public writing. Through our small classes, intensive workshops, and diverse course offerings, students study how language, communities, technologies, and systems of power intersect; and, in turn, students learn how to shape public discourse and impact everyday life by generating creative and persuasive content in multiple genres, media, and modes for diverse audiences and aims. Whether students are interested in developing their own style, working toward social change, or communicating knowledge in a disciplinary or career domain, PWR helps students develop their voice, advance social change, and effectively communicate in personal, professional, and civic contexts.
