Leaf Van Boven and Jairo Ramos in the news

vanboven, ramos

CU Psychology and Neuroscience Professor Leaf Van Boven (Social) and graduate student Jairo Ramos (Social) were in the news, with a story about some research of theirs appearing in the Colorado Arts and Sciences Magazine. The research, published in the journal Cognition, demonstrated that people of different political persuasions can interpret the same set of facts/statistics differently depending on their persuasion. (In part, these differences arise because people tend to be very poor understanders of conditional probabilities. For example, the statement "all cats are mammals" does not mean the reverse is true, i.e., "all mammals are cats.") Read the A&S Magazine article or read the original .
