Spaces is a portrait photography project which explores the complexities of personal aesthetics, utilizing specific color and lighting choices to differentiate each subject from the next.

Spaces is a portrait photography project which explores the complexities of personal aesthetics, utilizing specific color and lighting choices to differentiate each subject from the next. Subjects were photographed in their room and were asked to collaborate with the photographer to choose clothing, makeup and hairstyles that they believe established their personal styles. The subjects of this project are close friends of the photographer, meaning that there is a special understanding of each individual, which is ultimately reflected in the images. With this project, the goal was to both allow the subjects a space to express personal style during the shoot, but also for the extensive editing of the images to reflect what the photographer sees in the subjects beyond a simple portrait.

Addy
