Reflections of My Life - Matthew Batchelder
Photography
18 to 22 printed photographs
These double exposed photos and collages are meant to serve the purpose of documenting my life experiences and self-reflection through art.
I'm an American-Jamaican photographer and media production major here at CU Â鶹ӰԺ. I grew up living in 6 different countries, and my international background has formed a major part of who I am both as a person and artist. I've done photography for the past 6 years and have covered many events including sports games, concerts, and fashion shows. I am looking to pursue a career in photography post-graduation.
This project is about self reflection and taking a look back at the last 21 years of my life. My life story is a very complex one for various reasons. I grew up living around the world in 6 different countries, each one bringing its own different adventures and challenges. On top of this, I was in and out of hospitals pretty often having to go through surgery a total of 11 times. Throughout all the ups and downs, I've been lucky to have a loving and supportive family that have been there for me the entire time. It’s primarily these things that have shaped who I am today, and this project is my attempt at trying to break it all down through art.
