“Perhaps, One Day”
“Perhaps, One Day” is a personal narrative short film depicting my experience with OCD. The film centers around discovering an uncovered letter from the past addressed to my future self. “Perhaps, One Day” has a double meaning in this film: On the one hand, the past letter fantasizes about a future, “one day,” without OCD; On the other hand, “Perhaps, One Day” refers to the possibility of what a day’s events could look like for a person with OCD. Though inherently subjective, as there are various forms, OCD is one of the most commonly misrepresented mental illnesses. Unfortunately, with misrepresentation comes many stigmas, especially with the less acceptable and palatable components like self-harm, intrusive thoughts, etc., that aren’t discussed much. The goal of this project is to destigmatize a discussion around the less palatable facets of mental illness and to affirm that there is hope for improvement.
