The Glass Holosphere
Ìý
The Glass Holosphere is a multimedia sculptural piece. The sculpture is composed of a hollow hand-blown glass sphere inside of a pyramid based holographic system composed of four clear plastic pieces and three 3D printed objects. An iPad is used at a display at the base of the clear plastic pyramid in order to create and project the holographic media inside of the glass sphere. Inside the glass sphere, an orange flying butterfly is visible. The butterfly flaps its wings over and over but cannot escape the walls of the glass chamber.Ìý It is created and designed to be viewed by walking around the sculpture, so the hologram of the flying butterfly is visible at every angle. It is meant to juxtapose the historic craft of glassblowing with the modern phenomena of holographic media.
